Development of an AI and computer vision-enabled automated inspection solution for high-speed train pantographs, capturing images from overhead sensors as trains move through a dedicated tunnel section. From concept and strategic planning to full operational deployment.

AI for automated pantograph examination

This project focused on streamlining the inspection process for high-speed train pantographs within maintenance facilities. Deployment of a sophisticated overhead sensing array, comprising advanced cameras and laser technology, strategically positioned in a tunnel section above the track. As trains pass beneath, this system automatically captures detailed visual data of the pantographs. Leveraging artificial intelligence and computer vision algorithms, the solution captures these images and shares them with an AI processing system to identify potential issues, enhancing operational safety and maintenance efficiency.

Product Leadership

As Product Manager, Danilo spearheaded this initiative, overseeing its evolution from initial conceptualization and strategic planning through to full operational deployment. His responsibilities included defining the product vision and roadmap, selecting and managing key technology partners, guiding the R&D and design teams, and ensuring seamless technical execution. He was also instrumental in the system’s fabrication, installation, successful commissioning, and ongoing client relationship management.
