This project centred on designing an advanced solution that applies generative artificial intelligence to improve how pantograph wear and performance are monitored and forecasted. The system empowers railway operators to make more informed maintenance choices, enhancing the reliability and lifespan of overhead current collection systems. The initiative spanned from early-stage strategy through to practical deployment.

Predictive maintenance powered by generative AI

By applying generative AI techniques, this solution modernises the maintenance process for train pantographs. Processing extensive operational data, the platform builds detailed 3D digital models of pantograph assemblies, enabling remote inspections and predictive diagnostics. This virtual modelling capability helps maintenance teams identify potential faults earlier, optimise repair schedules, and minimise service interruptions and associated costs.
