Urban Mobility Project Brief
Barcelona’s public transport operator, TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona), commissioned the delivery of 24 new five-car trains to upgrade Line 1 of the metro network. This comprehensive project spanned the full lifecycle, from initial design and engineering to manufacturing and final commissioning. The new trains were developed with sustainability and operational efficiency at their core. Built with lightweight materials and optimized for low energy consumption, they also offer high recyclability and streamlined maintenance. Integrated remote monitoring technology enables predictive, digital-first maintenance strategies, supporting long-term performance and cost efficiency.
