The North East Line (NEL) in Singapore has been extended by 1.6 kilometers with the addition of Punggol Coast station, enhancing connectivity in the region. To support this strategic infrastructure expansion, Alstom was awarded a contract by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to deliver six additional Metropolis trainsets. These next-generation trains are equipped with advanced condition monitoring systems for predictive maintenance and are designed for fully automated operation, aligning with Singapore’s vision for a smart, future-ready transport network.
