Urban Mobility Project Brief

To enhance the service on Line 3 of the Barcelona Metro, TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona) initiated the procurement of 18 new five-car trains. This end-to-end project covered all key phases—from concept design and system engineering to production and entry into service. The trains were designed with a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility and operational performance. Using lightweight structures and energy-efficient systems, they also feature high levels of recyclability and are engineered for easy maintenance. Advanced onboard diagnostics and remote monitoring systems were integrated to enable predictive, digitally enabled maintenance workflows, improving reliability and reducing lifecycle costs.
